Minister

KEVIN CLEARY is originally from Port Dover Ontario. He graduated from East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions (now South East Institute of Biblical Studies), and Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver, and has served as an evangelist for churches of Christ for the past 17 years. He is married to Nancy  and they have two children Joel and Asher. Kevin enjoys serving others, and in addition to ministry he serves as a volunteer firefighter in Meaford Ontario. Kevin enjoys outdoor activities hunting, skiing, mountain biking especially with family and friends. He serves as the evangelist for the Barrie Church of Christ. 

Elders


BOB BAYLIS and his wife, Margie, were both born and raised in Toronto. They were married in 1953 and have three children, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Bob and Margie worshiped at the old Mapleview congregation and later with the Bayview congregation where Bob served first as a deacon and then as an elder. Bob’s career took them to St. Catharines where they worshiped with the Ontario Street congregation for nine years. After retirement, Bob and Margie moved to Barrie and now worship with the Barrie Church of Christ where Bob serves as an elder.


RUSS COSBY is from southern Ontario and he and his family have lived and worked in areas of Ontario stretching from St. Catharines to North Bay. Russ and his wife Sharon settled in Barrie in mid 1995 and have attended the Barrie Church of Christ since then. Russ was appointed as an elder on October 15, 1999 and in addition to these duties, periodically teaches the Sunday morning adult Bible class and fills in with other teaching responsibilities for the congregation from time to time. Russ and Sharon have two adult children and three granddaughters.

TIM JOHNSON was born in Vancouver, raised in Hamilton, Tim is a graduate of Whites Ferry Road School of Biblical Studies in Louisiana. He and his wife Diana spent 28 years in Moncton, New Brunswick, and seven in Edmonton, Alberta, starting new congregations. They moved to Barrie in 2011 where Tim worked as an evangelist for a further 10 years before retiring and has been an elder of the congregation since 2022. They have four married sons and nine grandchildren. 

 

 


KARL KLEMM was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario where he was baptized at the age of 13. He met his wife, Debbie, while training with the military in Kingston, Ontario. They were married in 1989 and have two adult sons. Their family moved to Barrie in 1995 and Karl was appointed as an Elder in 2015.

 

 

 

 

DAVID KNUTSON spent his teenage years in Newmarket, Ontario but finished high school at Great Lakes Christian College in Beamsville. He worked with Great Lakes Bible College for about 28 years, as a Bible instructor, dean, and finally as president.  

Dave met Patricia Adams at Freed Hardeman College, and they married in 1974.  They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Having served the Waterloo church of Christ as an elder for 15 years, he was recently asked to serve with our congregation as elder.  He continues to teach and to preach for the Bayview Avenue church of Christ in Toronto on a part-time basis, and acts as an editorial writer for the Gospel Herald publication.

 

Deacons

BOB COBER started attending the church here in Barrie in 1990 with his wife Judi and two boys Rob and Jordan. Bob was appointed as a deacon in 2015 and takes care of our building and grounds.

 

 

 

 

ROB COBER started attending the church in Barrie in 1990 with his parents and brother. The entire family were excellent examples of servanthood. Rob now worships here with his own family. He is married to Jenna and they have two children Ben and Julia. Rob was appointed as a deacon in 2015 and works with our song leaders and young adults.

 

 

JON JACKSON started attending the Barrie church in 2007 and was baptized into Christ in 2008. Jon met his future wife, Shannon in the church and they were wed in 2014. Together they have one daughter. He was appointed a deacon in 2022. His ministry is focused on organizing our Sunday school program.
